Bridgestone names Tsuya as CEO; Nishigai as COO

Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp has restructured its top management roles, creating the position of chief operating officer and re-defining the Chairman's role.
Shoshi Arakawa, Chairman of the Board, CEO, President and Representative Board Member, will assume the newly redefined role of Chairman of the Board. Succeeding Arakawa as CEO will be Masaaki Tsuya, currently Senior Vice President, Member of the Board Responsible for Diversified Products, Sports and Cycle Business; concurrently Chief Risk-Management Officer, Chief Human Rights Officer Responsible for Corporate Administration Chief Compliance Officer, Office of Group CEO, Internal Auditing. Tsuya will continue to serve as a Representative Board Member.
Kazuhisa Nishigai, Senior Vice President, Member of the Board Responsible for Japan Tire Business, concurrently responsible for Replacement Tyre Sales, will be elected to the newly established position of COO; Nishigai will continue in his role as a Representative Board Member.
The changes are subject to approval at the Company's annual Shareholders' Meeting and subsequent Board of Directors meeting to be held in March 2012
