And the world's biggest tyre maker is…. Lego
ERJ staff report (DS)
Billund, Denmark - The toy maker Lego makes around 318 million tyres each year. With global tyre production at around 1.5 billion units, this makes Lego the producer of the largest number of units annually, according to the Guinness World Records
Not that these are tyres as the rubber industry knows them. Many are made from polyethylene and other thermoplastics; almost none of them has any reinforcing cord and few every even touch a road, operating more normally on carpets and wooden halways.
