Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- Veyance Technologies Inc. and the United Steelworkers have reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract.
The union and company had been in negotiations for three months and the settlement came a few days after USW members voted to authorise a strike against the Fairlawn, Ohio-headquartered manufacturer of hose, conveyor belts, air springs and other rubber products.
Members of the union will vote on ratification of the pact after informational meetings are held, the USW said.
The contract covers more than 1,000 workers at Veyance's plants in Marysville and St. Mary's, Ohio; Lincoln, Neb.; and Sun Prairie, Wis.:
Contract details were not released, but the Pittsburgh-based USW said it provides wage increases and improves job security provisions while strengthening retirement and other benefits. If approved, it will run through July 2016
