Vogue, Dynamic recalling Chinese-made tyres
ERJ staff report (TB)
Washington DC -- Vogue Tyre & Rubber Co. and Dynamic Tire Corp. have begun voluntary tyre recalls of 701 passenger and 44 truck tyres, respectively, built by China's Sailun Tire Co. Ltd., according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The Vogue tye case can be researched at NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 12T023. The Dynamic case can be researched under NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 12T022
Mount Prospect, Ill.-based Vogue Tyre is recalling 701 Custom Built tyres, size 225/50R17, and Signature V tyres, sizes 225/50R17, 235/50R18 and 245/45R18, all made between Jan. 1 and Aug. 11, 2012, by Sailun at the firm's plant in Qingdao, China.
The tyres violate federal safety standards in that they do not have their full tyre identification numbers branded on their outer sidewalls. Vogue said it had identified all of its customers that had received the non-compliant tyres and had begun contacting them.
Brampton, Ontario-based Dynamic is recalling 44 Sailun S825 commercial tyres, size 385/65R22.5, manufactured in March and April 2012 at Sailun's Qingdao plant.
The thickness of the inner liners may be thinner than specified, possibly leading to sidewall separation, Dynamic said.
