Tatneft starts production of new universal tyres
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Nizhnekamsk, Russia - The Nizhnekamsk tyre complex of Russian tyre maker OAO Tatneft has launched a full-scale production of a new range of tyres with a universal tread pattern.
The first of the new universal products, produced by the factory of solid steel cord tyres (SSC) was a KAMA NU-301 model of size 275/70 R22.5, designed to be installed on any axis and primarily on city buses.
The new tyres are characterised by a more solid tyre shoulder area, which allows increasing the bus traction quality, which is important in winter conditions, Tatneft said in a 3 Sept news release. It added that reinforced tyre carcass sidewalls provide for improved protection against impact of curbs and tyre cuts, as well as added stability on dry road surface and on the wet asphalt.
There are three large longitudinal ribs with special lugs providing for tyre stability while driving in all weather conditions, while four deep grooves between them reduce the risk of aquaplaning.
A special sidewall wear indicator allows to continuously monitor the state of the tyre, thus ensuring the passenger transportation safety, the Russian manufacturer stated.
