Rogers Corp. acquires UK-based silicones specialist

Chandler, Arizona – US speciality engineered materials company Rogers Corp. has acquired Silicone Engineering Ltd., a UK-based manufacturer of silicone material solutions.

The transaction closed 8 Oct, announced Rogers on the same day without disclosing the terms of the deal.

The company, however, noted that Silicone Engineering reported a revenue of £30 million (€35 million) over the past 12 months, with a profitability 'comparable to that of Roger’s elastomeric material solutions business unit.'
 
Roger expects the acquisition to expand its existing advanced silicones platform and to provide a “European centre of excellence” for the company’s customers, said the company statement.

Based in Lancashire, north-west England, Silicone Engineering supplies to a broad range of sectors, including aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, rail & mass transit, medical, food and industrial markets. 

“Silicone Engineering is a premiere silicone solutions provider and is an outstanding strategic fit with our elastomeric material solutions business,” said Bruce Hoechner, Rogers’ president and CEO.

The acquisition, he added, will create “a dynamic silicones platform” to strengthen Rogers’ services in its core markets, including the automotive, medical and insturial sectors. 

“The Silicone Engineering team, products and business model are closely aligned with Rogers, so we expect a seamless integration,” he concluded.
