German machinery maker says it has now expanded its “special machine programme for large-area seals”
Fridingen, Germany – Desma has just delivered a large rubber injection moulding machine for the manufacture of special seals for passenger car battery housings to an unnamed "internationally operating customer."
With a total weight of 60,000kg and a heating plate size of 2450mm x 1400mm, the unit has two FIFO A injection units, each with an injection volume of 1000 cm³, said a 24 March company release
With the delivery, the German rubber machinery maker said it has now expanded its “special machine programme for large-area seals by another size”.
In addition, Desma said it also developed a modular cold runner technology for this project.
The machine features Desma’s FlowControl cold runner systems and its PressureSense technology, allowing flexibly to different spray volumes per nozzle.
Furthermore, the hydromechanical QuickLock quick clamping system is also available for this machine size to make mould changes efficient.
The injection moulding machine produces the car battery seals on the vertical Desma 968.700 Sealmaster. A 'shiftable' arrangement of the injection units also enables the flexible production of different gasket sizes.
