Pyrum technology involves energy self-sufficient plants with zero CO2 emission
Dillingen, Germany – German tire pyrolysis startup Pyrum Innovations AG has been nominated for two German awards concerning its innovative technology and its business development strategy.
The startup was nominated by the local government of Saarlouis for the “Grand Prix Mittelstand”, an annual prestigious business award by the Oskar Patzelt Foundation, said Pyrum in an 8 March statement.
The title, according to Pyrum, is awarded on the basis of five competitive criteria: Overall development of the company, creating and securing jobs and apprenticeships, innovation and modernisation, commitment to the region as well as service, customer proximity and marketing.
The awarding ceremony will be held at a gala in Duesseldorf on 25 Sept.
In addition, Pyrum was nominated in the “best tire recycling innovation” and “best company director” categories for the inaugural Recircle Awards.
The event is a new global initiative aimed at recognising companies and individuals within the tire industry whose work focuses on achieving a circular economy.
The awards are presented in a total of 20 categories. The shortlist of nominated companies is determined by a selection committee made up of international industry experts and the winners will be announced on 15 March 2021.
Pyrum has developed a pyrolysis technology wherein waste poylmers and end-of-life tires are recycled into new raw materials using plants that are “completely energy self-sufficient” and have zero CO2 emissions.
"We have been able to produce raw materials of consistently high quality with our pyrolysis plant, which has been running uninterrupted and trouble-free since May 2020,” said Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum Innovations AG.
The company, he said, has reached an off-take agreement with German chemicals giant BASF SE for our pyrolysis oil in the current volume of around 100 kilotonnes per year.
In addition, BASF has pledged support for the construction of up to 50 plants by 2025 and committed to taking a 10% stake in Pyrum Innovations AG.
