Chinese tire maker's project will take three years to complete and create over 1,500 new jobs
Go Dau, Vietnam – Sailun plans to pump 3 billion yuan (€383 million) into the expansion of its Vietnam plant in Go Dau, Tay Ninh province.
The expansion constitutes phase 3 of the plant and includes designed annual capacity for 3 million unit passenger car tires, 1 million unit truck/bus tires and 50,000 tonne off-the-road tires, said the company’s announcement in January.
Phase 3 will take three years to complete and create 1,516 new jobs, said Sailun. It will sell to Europe and the US, and generate an average annual net profit of €83 million on €362 million sales when on stream.
The plant has been operating since 2013 and is able to produce 1.4 million unit truck and bus tires, 10 million unit passenger car tires, and 35,000 tonne off-the-road tires.
Sailun also has a JV with Cooper named ACTR, which started operation in November 2019. It has 2.4 million annual capacity for truck and bus tires.
