Will be shown making precision ophthalmology parts weighing just 0.0013g
Schwertberg, Austria – Engel is launching a new micro-injection unit, designed to produce extremely small components from liquid silicone rubber (LSR).
The technology will feature at a company live e-xperience event on 13-16 Oct: making precision ophthalmology parts with an individual part weight of 0.0013 grammes.
An all-electric and tie-bar-less Engel e motion 50/30 TL injection moulding machine will be used for the display.
Developed with ACH Solution of Fischlham, Austria, the unit is designed to produce precision LSR components with shot weights of well below 0.1 grammes.
For the market launch, a 32-cavity valve gate cold runner mould will be used to produce connecting elements used in ophthalmic diagnostic instruments.
The filigree parts measure 1.7 mm in length and 0.9 mm in diameter and weigh just 0.0013 grams.
The all-electric Engel e-motion 50/30 TL injection moulding machine is equipped with an LSR metering pump by ACH, which also supplied a camera system for quality control.
