Borealis acquires South Korean compounder DYM
Specialist in semi-conductive, flame retardant, rubber and silane-cured cable compounds.
Vienna – Borealis has acquired a controlling stake in South Korean compounder DYM Solution Co. Ltd, the polymers major has announced.
With the acquisition of Cheonan-based DYM, Borealis has strengthened its position in the global wire & cable market, according to its 31 Aug statement.
With headquarters near Seoul, DYM Solution has three compounding sites across the country, including a ‘smart’ automated factory and dedicated R&D facilities.
The Korean compounder specialises in semi-conductive, halogen-free flame retardant (HFFR), rubber and silane-cured compounds.
Borealis added that DYM’s products and technologies for semi-conductive, flame retardant, rubber and silane cross-linkable compounds are complementary to its portfolio.
The DYM acquisition will complement our offering to better serve our clients,” says Lucrèce Foufopoulos, Borealis executive VP polyolefins, innovation and circular economy solutions.
“Decarbonisation of the energy sector is creating substantial growth opportunities for the global wire and cable industry,” Foufopoulos also noted.
