Manufacturer promises “safety and peace-of-mind” with latest offerings
Ankara-Turkey – Turkish tire-maker Petlas has developed tires employing a “unique technology” said to provide comfort and safety for the country’s military forces.
“The ultimate performance patterns RM900 & RM910 offer an excellent combination of stability and safety,” according to a Petlas statement issued 26 Aug.
The tires provide vehicles with ultra-high performance and driving safety in case of any damage causing the tire to run flat, said the company.
With proper inflation, it added, they provide enhanced ride-comfort, handling, steering stability and obstacle-avoidance for armed vehicles, as well as increased traction In mud, sand and snow.
“Self-supporting run-flat insert system inside these patterns provide an unprecedented performance to protect the tire from breakage or shattering under ballistic missile attack or other road hazards,” Petlas further claimed.
The company linked the performance of the products to a specially formulated rubber compound – no details given – which protects the tire from damage, punctures or pressure-loss.
Moreover, according to Petlas, the tires can operate about 60 miles at a speed of 30mph with zero air pressure if the tire suffers from a puncture in harsh conditions.
