Japanese supplier says could not absorb costs “due to the severe economic environment”
Tokyo – Nippon Zeon, part of Japanese materials supplier Zeon Corp., has increased its selling prices for nitrile rubber (NBR), effective 17 Aug.
The company has generally raised prices for Nipol-branded NBR by $110-250 per tonne for 2020 delivery, said the company in a 3 Aug statement.
Zeon said the price increase was made in order to achieve stable supply of products and maintain and improve quality for customers.
The company said it had made efforts to absorb costs of repair and maintenance over the past few years, but could no longer cover them “due to the severe economic environment these days.”
According to Zeon, Nipol elastomers offer a good balance of performance and cost-effectiveness for applications needing fluid resistance, moderate heat resistance, and durability.
