Washington, DC – The US Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) has elected Yong-Sik Shin of Kumho Tire USA Inc. and Pietro Berardi of Pirelli Tire North America Inc. to the group's board of directors.
In addition, the USTMA extended the term of Board Chair Steve McClellan, president of Americas for Goodyear, through October 2021.
"The board's decision to ask Steve to continue as chair during these unpredictable times speaks to the confidence they have in his strong leadership," USTMA CEO Anne Forristall Luke said.
"The elections of Pietro Berardi and Yong-Sik Shin augment an already exceptionally talented and strategic board who will help steer our industry through a robust economic recovery and resilient future."
Shin has been CEO of the American Business Division for South Korea's Kumho Tire Co. Inc. since September 2019. He previously was the company's head of global sales.
He leads four Kumho subsidiaries – Kumho Tire USA Inc., Kumho Tire Canada, Kumho Tire Latin America and the Kumho Tire plant in Georgia from a sales and overall operations perspective.
Berardi joined Pirelli in March following his work as vice president at the Alliance of Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, where he managed global commercial operations and strategy for the parts and services business.
"I am honoured to continue my role as chair of USTMA's board, particularly now," McClellan said in a statement.
"As a $148 billion (€125 billion) industry that helps power the US manufacturing economy, it is critical that we maintain a strong and unified voice on reopening the American economy and on policy issues affecting the nearly 100,000 women and men who work for our member companies."
The USTMA represents 13 tire manufactures in the US operating 57 locations in 17 state and generating annual sales are more than $27 million.
