Tokyo — Yokohama Rubber Co.’s Advan Sport V107 tire has been selected as original equipment fitment for a number of new models by German car manufacturer Mercedes-AMG, the Japanese tire maker announced 29 July.
The automaker has selected the tires as OE for the new GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe, which was launched in Europe in November 2019, Yokohama said.
Furthermore, Mercedes selected Advan Sport V107 tires as OE for two models in its new GLE 63-series – the GLE 63 4MATIC+ and the GLE 63 4MATIC+ Coupe – which were launched in Europe in March 2020.
In addition, the tires were chosen by Mercedes for the new GLA 35 4MATIC and GLA 45 4MATIC+ and GLA 45 S 4MATIC+ models in June 2020, Yokohama added.
The Advan Sport V107 is billed as "a high-performance tire developed primarily for use on high-power premium cars."
It succeeds Advan Sport V105 and improves upon “the already excellent driving performance” of its predecessor, Yokohama said.
The tires were jointly developed with Mercedes-AMG and bear the car maker’s MO1 mark of approval on the tire sidewall.
Under its medium-term management plan, Grand Design 2020 (GD2020), Yokohama has set itself a ‘core goal’ of expanding its presence in the premium tire markets.
One of the specific strategies for achieving the goal is the company’s “premium-car tire strategy”, which aims to increase use of Yokohama tires as OE on premium cars in Japan and globally.
