Cologne, Germany – Lanxess AG has restructured its operations to advance new mobility technologies while consolidating rubber-related activities under its Rhein Chemie business unit.
The German chemicals company is combining all its new mobility activities under an ‘e-mobility business’, to be managed by current Rhein Chemie head Philipp Junge as of August.
Jens-Hendrik Fischer will be the new head of the Rhein Chemie business unit, effective 1 Aug, Lanxess announced 14 July.
Fischer currently heads the operations for antioxidants and accelerators for the rubber industry within the Lanxess Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit.
Lanxess is planning to manage these rubber products under the umbrella of Rhein Chemie, which already offers speciality rubber additives.
“Rhein Chemie would thus become the central business unit at Lanxess for products for the rubber industry,” said Anno Borkowsky, member of the Lanxess board of management.
Lanxess said it is setting up the e-mobility unit as part of its strategy to further strengthen its market position in technologies relating to new mobility.
“Modern mobility is one of the most dynamic growth sectors worldwide,” said Borkowsky, adding that the German supplier aimed to expand its offerings in the sector “significantly.”
