Jim Pangle of Fountain Tire appointed as board secretary, in line to become president
Bowie, Maryland – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) board of directors has elected Jim Pangle, a business development specialist with Fountain Tire, as board secretary, putting him in line to become the group's president in 2022, according to TIA's rules of succession.
The TIA board also reelected Mike Wolfe of Southeastern Wholesale Tire to a third term as board treasurer, effective 2 Nov.
Pangle has over 40 years of experience in the tire industry, starting with Goodyear in the early 1970s before opening a Fountain Tire store in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1973 servicing retail, commercial and farm tire customers.
He expanded the business into truck tire retreading and later added OTR sales, service and retreading, TIA said, before joining Fountain Tire on a corporate level as senior vice president, responsible for 166 stores, the retread plants, commercial sales and mine service.
Pangle has held TIA board positions since the mid-1990s and has participated on the training/education, strategic planning, nominating, membership and government affairs committees.
He was reelected to the board last year and has been part of TIA's environmental advisory council of late.
"I am very proud to have been elected secretary of this great association and am looking forward to working with TIA and industry leaders," he said.
Wolfe, owner of Southeastern Wholesale Tire in Raleigh, North Carolina, has served on the TIA board for the past 12 years and is active on the membership, strategic planning/finance and government affairs committees.
"I look forward to working with the new members of the executive board for the betterment of the industry," he said.
TIA CEO Roy Littlefield said these elections ensure a lot of association leadership experience on the executive committee in these "unique times."
"Jim has been a long-time TIA board member and brings a unique background to the position of secretary as a tire dealer from Canada. Mike, meanwhile, has been a solid steward of TIA's finances for many years," he said.
Pangle will succeed Mason Hess, area manager for Purcell Tire & Service Center, as secretary at TIA's annual membership meeting on Nov. 2 in Las Vegas prior to the start of the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show.
Hess will succeed Dan Northdurft of Tires, Tires, Tires as vice president, who in turn will succeed Brian Rigney of Dill Air Controls as president.
