Luxembourg – Gates Corp. is donating more than $530,000 (€470,000) to organisations responding to Covid-19 pandemic globally, the US supplier of fluid power and power transmission systems announced 1 July.
The Gates Foundation is working with nearly 100 Gates facilities around the world to identify and help fund local nonprofits, said the Denver, Colorado-based manufacturer.
As part of this, the company said it had identified 19 charities across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and is donating a total of $78,500 to those organisations.
“Gates’ global charitable initiative is intended to empower local organiations. We’re tapping into local knowledge to address area-specific needs,” said Josef Parzhuber, president EMEA.
The company started the initiative with a “substantial donation” to the Hubei Charity Federation to support the medical needs in the area.
The aid campaign now spans other parts of South and North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa; Greater China; and East Asia and India, Gates added.
