Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc looking to attract tenants

Dundee, Scotland – Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) has engaged two property management firms to attract enterprises to be located at the former tire manufacturing plant in Dundee.

Ryden and Westport Property have been appointed as marketing and leasing advisers for the park which aims to accommodate companies working in sustainable mobility and low carbon energy sectors, MSIP said in a 5 June statement.

A joint venture between Michelin, Scottish Enterprise and Dundee City Council, MSIP is currently at "an advanced stage of" planning the transformation of the existing tire factory into a site that brings together industry and academia.

The industrial park will provide businesses access to a large, flexible space, an innovation campus, a skills academy, business support as well as competitive green energy delivered from sustainable sources.

Michelin ended tire production at the Dundee plant in March, following a premature closure due to Covid-19.

The French tire maker had initially planned to cease operation at the factory in June. 

Michelin announced in November 2018 that it was closing down the Dundee plant by the end of 2020. The site, which opened in 1971, manufactured only 16-inch and smaller tires for passenger cars, whose market has faced serious difficulties in recent years.
