Factory to supply to the 'dipping industry' including producers of gloves, condoms and balloons
London – Corrie MacColl subsidiary SudCam is building a $16-million (€14 million) natural latex and rubber factory in Meyomessala, in southern Cameroon, to increase supply to the European and North American health sector.
Set for completion in the third quarter of 2020, the factory will supply to the dipping industry – gloves, condoms and balloons – as well as speciality product makers in the automotive, household and industrial segments, said a Corrie MacColl statement 5 June.
With a production capacity of 45 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa), the unit will produce 100% latex grade rubber split between concentrated latex and TSR CV/L Grades.
The facility, the release said, will make Corrie MacColl the only producer of concentrated latex in Africa, enabling it to supply speciality grades of natural latex to the western hemisphere.
The factory will include a number of environmental features such as solar panels, effluent water reprocessing equipment and a sludge activated waste-water treatment plant.
Sudcam operates two HeveCam and SudCam rubber tree plantations and manufactures 60ktpa of latex at factories on the two sites.
