Project will generate around 5 GWh/year, significantly reducing annual carbon emissions
Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg – Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is to build two photovoltaic power stations at its testing facilities in Colmar-Berg, the tire maker has announced.
From 2022, the new units will together generate around 5 GWh/year, reducing annual carbon emissions by 46.3 tonnes, said a 27 May press statement.
The project, being carried out with Enovos, will provide clean energy for around 1,200 households via the Luxembourg energy grid, according to Goodyear.
The photovoltaic stations, it added, will expand on Goodyear’s long-standing relationship with Enovos, to produce steam for production at its Luxembourg plant.
This will “contribute to the local green and carbon-free energy supply, benefiting the community and helping to protect the environment,” said Xavier Fraipont, Goodyear’s EMEA vice president for product development.
