New target is a mid-way strategy to achieve zero emissions by 2050
Kiyosu, Japan – Toyoda Gosei has announced a new environmental target for 2030 in a bid to increase sustainability efforts across its production operations.
The Japanese automotive supplier aims to lower CO2 emissions by 43% over the next decade compared to the 2015 baseline, a company statement said.
The target is a mid-way strategy to achieve zero emissions by 2050 – a goal that was set out in Toyoda Gosei’s TG2020 Environmental Challenge in 2015.
Phased measures are being taken in two areas: to reduce energy consumption by eliminating energy loss at plants and to increase the use of solar power and other forms of renewable energy.
Toyoda Gosei said it is studying new production technologies, downsizing machinery and introducing energy-saving equipment as part of the effort to reduce energy loss at its factories.
