Initial production will be at a reduced rate, reflecting current market demand
Burton on Trent, UK – Pirelli UK is to restart production at its tire manufacturing plants in Carlisle and Burton-on-Trent as of 18 May.
The initial production will be at a reduced rate, reflecting current market demand, Pirelli announced in a 14 May statement.
The two sites have been closed since 23 March due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
Pirelli said the return to work will be carried out under “stringent health and safety measures” and only a small number of employees who are needed to meet current production levels will return to on-site activities at the initial stage.
Working from home will be encouraged and supported in other areas, such as commercial and administrative functions. Employees in high-risk groups will remain at home.
