Facility, which primarily manufactures motorcycle and racing tires, has been closed since late March
Findlay, Ohio – Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is reopening its tire manufacturing plant in Melksham, UK, in the first half of June, the company announced 13 May.
The facility, which primarily manufactures motorcycle and racing tires has been closed since late March due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Cooper expects to be producing tires at the site by 15 June.
To help protect employees returning to the plant, Cooper has put in place a set of health & safety procedures that include employee disclosures, increased cleaning of facilities and social distancing.
Cooper said its production plants in China, the US and Serbia have now fully reopened and are in various stages of ramping up production.
The tire maker did not offer an update on its production unit in El Salto, Mexico, which has been idled since March.
Cooper reopened the El Salto plant on 13 April after four weeks of closure but had to close the facility on 28 April as the Mexican government determined the business as "non-essential".
