Move to help create "new economic agenda" for Sri Lanka with focus on exports
Colombo – Managing director of Global Rubber Industries (GRI) Prabhash Subasinghe has been appointed by the Sri Lankan president to an 'economic revival and poverty alleviation' task force, the company announced 4 May.
The task force has been created to establish a new economic agenda for Sri Lanka and will aim to “promote exports in all sectors and uplift all local industries.”
The team will also identify “economically favourable opportunities” which emerged in new global economic trends following Covid-19 pandemic and formulate mechanisms to promote value-added export products.
Holding ‘key leadership positions’ in various Sri Lankan organisations, Subasinghe is expected to play a “catalyst” role in the growth of the country’s rubber and seafood industries.
Subasinghe was named the chairman of Sri Lanka export development board in January to drive the country’s export industry “to the next level.”
“It is with the same level of patriotism and passion that I accept my appointment to this special presidential task force,” he said.
GRI is a producer of off-highway speciality tires in Sri Lanka with offices in nine countries.
