Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin has published a health protocol for all of its industrial sites as the French group gradually resumes production activities across its manufacturing bases.
The protocol, issued by Michelin’s occupational health and safety experts, offers strict guidelines that “often go beyond the requirements issued by international and governmental health authorities,” the tire maker announced 27 April.
The guidelines, currently being enforced at all sites, take into account the specific nature of each business sectors, according to Michelin.
For instance, they specify the equipment to be provided to employees and outline the modifications and processes to be implemented where activities resume.
Michelin announced 23 April that it was planning a ‘gradual’ ramp up of its manufacturing operations following production halts introduced in response to Covid-19 pandemic.
“If all safety criteria are met and demand is sufficient, our plants must continue to operate or gradually ramp up operations in order to contribute… to the reopening of the economy,” said Florent Menegaux, Group Michelin CEO.
The reopening, Menegaux went on to say, should be carried out “without ever trading off economic activity against the absolute priority of our employees’ health.”
