The status of the company's passenger & light truck tire plant in Virginia is unclear
West Point, Mississippi – Yokohama Corp. of North America will restart production 27 April at its commercial tire plant in West Point, which the company idled 28 March in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yokohama said it has implemented several new safety procedures at the plant, based on guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local authorities.
Yokohama idled the West Point plant 28 March. Ten days later, on 5 April, it suspended production at its passenger and light truck tire plant in Salem, Virginia. Both closures were to last about two weeks.
The temporary closures affected approximately 1,400 workers at the two plants.
The status of the Salem plant is unclear.
