Trelleborg, Sweden - Trelleborg AB has divested three moulded-component production sites in Sweden and Estonia as part of a strategy to focus on selected market segments.
The facilities are located in Örebro, Sweden, Havdhem, Sweden and Kuressaare, Estonia, and together employ 240 people.
The current management of the operations, which mainly sell to local and regional customers, have acquired the businesses, Trelleborg said in a 23 April statement.
The divested units had combined annual sales of SEK250 million (€23 million) in 2019, said Trelleborg, adding that the transaction would have “a minor positive impact” on the group’s net profit.
The three plants were previously part of Trelleborg Industrial Solutions before they were transferred to the ‘businesses under development’ reporting segment for low-profit businesses at the start of the year, a Trelleborg spokeswoman informed ERJ.
"They manufacture a wide range of customised polymer solutions with a focus on moulded components to industries like the food industry, general industry, mining, automotive, agriculture and forestry," she said in a written statement.
The products, added the spokeswoman, include technical rollers, rubber and polyurethane wear parts, and vacuum rings.
“We have for a while evaluated various strategic alternatives for these moulded component operations. It soon became clear that a sale to the management team was the best option,” said Ulf Berghult, CFO and overall responsible for businesses under development.
