Rubber industry expert Bennett sets up Midsomer Science

Former chief scientist at Avon Rubber will also continue to engage with industry and academia
Radstock, UK – After a career spanning over 30 years at Avon Rubber plc, leading rubber industry expert Martyn Bennett has moved on to set up a consultancy Midsomer Science Ltd, based in Radstock, near Bath in southwest England.
As well as his consultancy activities, Bennett will continue to engage with industry and academia through the IoM3 Rubber in Engineering Group and via a visiting industrial fellowship with Bath University.
Bennett was most recently chief scientist at Avon Rubber, a position he held since 2007. In this role he set up and ran ARTIS, which offers testing, development and consultancy services to the elastomer industry.
Among his recognitions and achievements, Bennett was the 2016 recipient of the IoM3 Hancock Medal for outstanding personal contribution to the rubber industry.
He is a noted pioneer in the development of technologies to enhance the sustainability of rubber materials, including through the recovery of fillers from end-of-life tires.
Bennett holds a BSc hons degrees in physics & metallurgy from Sheffield City Polytechnic, now known as Sheffield Hallam University.
