Swedish group dedicates aerospace facility in Massachusetts for manufacture of parts
London – Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (TSS) is supplying an elastomeric component to Boeing for the manufacture of its 3D printed face shields for Covid-19 medical workers.
The company was approached by Boeing at the end of March to produce and supply an elastomer strap for the adjustable headband of the face shields, said Trelleborg in a statement 20 April.
TSS said it dedicated its aerospace facility in Northborough, Massachusetts for the manufacture of the parts which are made from an aerospace grade silicone.
The facility currently manufactures 5000 pieces of strap per week which are used by Boeing across a number of its US sites to produce face shields.
