Bridgestone to fully resume manufacture in Europe

Brussels – Bridgestone Europe, Russia, Middle East, India and Africa (EMIA) is resuming tire production at its manufacturing bases in Europe, following temporary closures put in place in response to Covid-19 pandemic and slow demand.

In a 20 April statement, the company said it was restarting production at its factories in Bari, Italy and Lanklaar on the day. Bridgestone’s manufacturing facility in Béthune, France, will reopen 21 April.

Earlier this month, the tire maker restarted all its plants located in Spain – Burgos, Bilbao and Puente San Miguel – and Ulyanovsk, Russia.

Bridgestone EMIA’s production units in India and South Africa will remain closed for now, the statement added. 
 
According to the company, the decision to resume production across Europe is in response to a ‘rise in demand’ for Bridgestone tires.

The tire maker went on to say that the Covid-19 threat remained serious and that it would continue to monitor both the ongoing health situation and the fluctuation in demand for its products very closely.
