Case concerned a product that was in violation of a company’s patent for silane additives
Waterford, New York – Momentive Performance Materials Inc. has won a patent infringement case against that Ecopower (Yongxiu) New Materials Co. Ltd and Ecopower (Guangzhou) New Materials Co. Ltd, the company announced 12 Feb.
The case, said Momentive, concerned the manufacture and sale of a product that was in violation of a company’s patent for NXT silane.
The Ecopower companies have appealed the court’s ruling.
Momentive said it had invested “millions of dollars” developing its NXT silane for tier & rubber applications, and that it would take protection of its intellectual property "very seriously."
According to Momentive, silica compounds coupled with its silane have exhibited improved silica dispersion, easier mixing, and faster, pliable processing.
Compounds containing the Momentive silane additive are also reported to have shown lower Payne Effect, as well as improved tan d values and resilience properties.
Green compounds made with the silane are claimed to demonstrate stability for a significantly longer time without reflocculation.
