Move described as precautionary measure ahead of possible shutdown of activities in Italy
Rovereto, Italy – Marangoni Retreading Systems is preparing its production site in Germany to serve European customers amid the continuing lockdown to control the spread of Covid-19 in Italy.
The company said it is currently awaiting a response from Italian authorities on the continuation of production at its facility in Ferentino, central Italy.
As a “precautionary measure”, the Italian retreading specialist said it was organising its Henstedt-Ulzburg plant in northern Germany to serve European customers.
Marangoni acquired the German facility in 1990 and has since made a “considerable investment” at the site, according to information on the company’s website.
Marangoni has two retreading plants plants in Italy - Rovereto and Ferentino - and a tire retreading machinery factory Ala, northeastern Italy.
According to the company, the Rovereto headquarters and retreading plant have been temporarily closed until 3 April, while the operations in Ferentino will continue as long as permitted by responsible authorities.
In addition to Germany and Italy, Marangoni has retreading plants in Rade, Norway and Nizhnekamsk, Russia.
