Machinery supplier Desma on 'emergency level' production

Fridingen, Germany – Rubber moulding machinery manufacturer Desma is reducing production at its locations in Germany and Slovakia to an “emergency operation” level until 17 Apr, when it will review the situation.

In addition, the company is coordinating with customers to postpone the delivery of all but essential orders, such as those for the medical, pharma and infrastructure sectors.
Desma said its supply of spare parts is unaffected by the emergency measures “as far as the pre-supply situation, or the availability of our employees allows it.”

Service assignments will not be carried out at customers’ premises, though Desma will continue to provide remote, web-based service and support operations.

The machinery company went on to say that it would give its locations in China and India “unrestricyed support in their operations, which are currently running (again) at full capacity.”

In the US, it added, operations are being maintained under regionally varying conditions of emergency legislation and in the interest of employee health.

Desma’s statement concluded: “We see our business activities internally and externally under the aspect of force majeur and the official instructions... from region to region.”
