Top spot awarded as a result of CO2 emissions reduction in 'all areas of products' lifecycles'
Tokyo – Bridgestone Corp. has been named to the CDP 2020 Supplier Engagement Leaderboard for its supply chain engagement on climate issues, the Japanese tire & rubber company announced 3 March.
Bridgestone said it received a supplier engagement rating (SER) of "A" from CDP as a result of the company's reduction of CO2 emissions throughout all areas of its products' lifecycles.
This included emissions cut in raw material procurement, manufacturing, distribution, use, and disposal or recycling, Bridgestone added.
Formerly known as carbon disclosure project, CDP is a non-profit organisation which circulates information on environmental issues. It scores companies and cities based on the information supplied in its annual reporting process.
Among its achievements, Bridgestone said it had introduced its global sustainable procurement policy to 98% of its tier 1 major suppliers, with the majority of those vendors in the process of completing third-party assessments.
The company also reported in 2018 to have reached 95% of its 2020 global goal to reduce the emissions footprint from the use of its tires.
