Company calls for “concerted approach" to the coronavirus problem at European level
Trento, Italy – Italian-based Tyre Retreading Machinery (TRM) is currently operating under normal conditions but expects ‘further complications’ as the country forces lockdowns to fight the spread of Covid-19.
“All our technicians are reachable by the normal communication channels and able to access our machines remotely,” general manager Alessandro Villa said in response to an ERJ query 11 March.
The spare parts service is also active and the company is not having any problems with the delivery of the goods and their availability, said the company official.
Things, however, “will certainly become more complicated and there is already talk of a total blockage of non-essential activities – anything outside food, health and emergency responses,” Villa noted.
“The situation is fluid and unfortunately not only in Italy,” said Villa, calling for a “concerted approach to the problem” at European level with clear rules-of-conduct for all EU member states.
This, he noted, should include addressing recent unilateral travel bans imposed by some of Italy’s neighbouring states.
Based in the Italian province of Trento, TRM is part of Italian Marangoni SpA and manufactures machines and production lines for the retreading of passenger car, truck, OTR and aircraft tires.
