Scheduled to take place in late April, the event has been moved to mid-July, according to Deutsche Messe
Hannover - For the first time in its 70-year history, the Hannover Messe is being postponed due to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus around the world.
Originally scheduled to take place from 20-24 April, the event has now been moved 13-17 July, said Deutsche Messe in a statement 4 March.
The venue said it was unable to meet the guidelines of the Robert Koch Institute for major events, which call for comprehensive health-protection measures when organising trade fairs.
The organisers said they were unable to satisfy these requirements at such short notice and added that implementing those measures would also interfere with the ‘smooth organisation’ of the event.
Hannover Messe is one of the world’s leading international industrial trade show.
The annual event attracts more than 200,000 visitors and showcases six topic areas: Automation, Motion & Drives – includes automation, power transmission and control, fluid power.
