SaarGummi Group wins Daimler award for quality

Luxembourg — SaarGummi Group has been recognised with a Daimler Supplier Award in the quality category of the Mercedes Benz cars and vans division after managing a “smooth production” start for the seals material group.

The Luxembourg group delivers the entire sealing package for Mercedes-Benz A- and B-Class vehicles, according to a 12 Feb news release.

The automotive supplier has multiple production sites of body seals for the cars with a focus on “customer requirements and flexible handling of modifications to the body shell and doors.”

This project is one of the most important success stories within SaarGummi, according to the group news release.
The operation involved close coordination and open communication by five of SaarGummi’s production sites, in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, China and Mexico, the group added.. 

Saar Gummi was the only supplier to receive the Daimler quality award in the Mercedes Benz division. 

"We just launched the A- and B- Class on a global basis in China, Europe and Mexico,” said CEO Larry Johnson who represented the group and accepted the trophy.
According to Johnson, the collaboration between SaarGummi and Daimler's departments of purchase, R&D, engineering, quality and operations helped the project become a success. 

“We were able to make changes quickly and to assure that the quality that we supply is picture perfect," he added.

An affiliate of Chinese state-owned CQLT Group, SaarGummi is a supplier of sealing systems. 

The group currently employs more than 7,200 people across locations in North and South America, Asia, and Europe.

The corporation operates three major business units of SaarGummi Automotive; SaarGummi Construction and SaarGummi Neo which develops solutions for processes and products for the entire group.
