China’s Sunsine to expand production of vulcanisation chemical

Heze, Shandong – Speciality rubber chemicals producer China Sunsine Chemical Holdings plans to add 60ktpa capacity for insoluble sulphur vulcanising agent, in Heze, Shandong province.
 
The plant has €104 million (785 million yuan) investment and covers 187,000sqm total area.

It will be built in two phases each containing two 15ktpa lines, said subsidiary Shandong Sunsine Chemical’s environmental impact report dated December 2019.
 
The project has finished the two required rounds of public review for environmental impact and is awaiting final regulatory approval for groundbreaking, the company told ERJ.
 
It will become the world’s largest insoluble sulphur facility when completed, said the company. Phase one is scheduled to come on stream in January 2022; phase two in December 2022. It will create 420 new jobs and generate €158 million annual sales.
 
Technology for the project was jointly developed by Sunsine and Qingdao University of Science and Technology. The company already has 25ktpa insoluble sulphur facilities in operation.
 
Singapore-listed China Sunsine claims to have been the world’s largest rubber accelerator maker in both production and sales for over 10 consecutive years. 

The company lists a clientele covering 65% of global top 75 tire manufacturers, including Bridgestone, Michelin, Goodyear and Pirelli.
