Beijing – China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published a redraft of tire recycling measures in the country.
The measures peg tire retreading as the optimal choice to “conserve resources,” alongside utilisation methods including reclaimed rubber, rubber powder and thermal cracking.
The draft also stipulates that scrap tires should be shredded using machinery instead of manually, and encourage the use of automation for related processes.
It is also specifies that energy consumption for tire retreading should be lower than 18kWh/unit, according to the document.
Reclaimed rubber, rubber powder and thermal cracking, it added, should consume less than 850kWh/tonne, 350kWh/tonne and 200kWh/tonne respectively.
