Manchester, UK – Hexpol TPE has developed new materials for cable sheathing applications in response to increasing demands from the power and telecommunications infrastructure industry.
The Dryflex Cable range includes grades based on thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), thermoplastic vulcanisates (TPVs) and ethylene-vinyl acetates (EVA), the company announced 10 Dec.
The line-up includes LSHF (low smoke halogen free) and LSZH (low smoke zero halogen) flame retardant compounds, which are RoHS-, SVHC- and REACH-compliant, stated Hexpol TPE.
“The challenge we set ourselves was to develop materials that exceed global standards for reliability and durability, combined with the lowest toxicity and smoke levels for human safety,” said Mark Clayton, managing director at Hexpol TPE’s Manchester site.
The compounds can be processed using standard extrusion equipment and are available ready to use, with no post-vulcanisation required.
Target applications include low voltage, data, insulation, jacketing and bedding.
