Equipment enables Kal Tire to process tire sizes up to 63” near major open-pit copper mine
Trento, Italy – TRM has supplied a tire retreading plant for a newly started operation near one of the world’s biggest open-pit copper mines, in north west Mexico.
The OTR tire facility, in the desert of Sonora, is operated by Kal Tire, a Canadian company specialising in mining tire service and retreading.
Designed to process tire sizes up to 63”, the TRM kit includes a multi-purpose working-gate with flexible tooling head for buffing and the final grooving.
The order also included an automated building machine with “exclusive” contact calender head as well as autoclaves and curing presses.
The new unit was started up through “active collaboration” between a TRM technical team and the Mexican field team of Kal Tire, the Italian company said.
Kal Tire is Canada’s largest independent tire dealer and one of North America’s largest commercial tire dealers, according to TRM.
The client’s mining tire group, it added, services more than 150 mining sites worldwide.
TRM, based in the Italian province of Trento, manufactures machines and production lines for the retreading of passenger car, truck, OTR and aircraft tires.
