Japanese group to double weatherstrip capacity at TG Zheng Ao operation by 2021
Kiyosu, Japan - Toyoda Gosei is expanding the production of weatherstrips at a recently acquired production plant in central China, in a bid to strengthen its parts business in the region.
The project, slated for completion in May 2021, will see production capacity at TG Zheng Ao roughly doubled compared to the baseline of 2018, said Toyoda Gosei in a 15 Nov statement.
Toyoda Gosei acquired a 60% share Hubei Toyoda Gosei Zheng Ao Rubber & Plastics Sealing Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (TG Zheng Ao) in December last year.
TG Zheng Ao supplies weatherstrips to Dongfeng Motor Corp., one of China’s “big three” automakers.
It also supplies products to Dongfeng Honda Automobile and Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile, Dongfeng’s joint venture businesses with Honda Motor and Groupe PSA, respectively.
With this expansion, Toyoda Gosei said it aimed to make TG Zheng Ao a core location for growing the TG group’s business in central China.
Hubei Zhengao Automotive Accessories holds the remaining 40% share in TG Zhen Ao.
