Plant operations continue as cause of fire still under investigation.
Tokyo – Two people have been injured in a fire at the Shirakawa Plant of Shin-Etsu Handotai Co. Ltd, a 100%-owned subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemicals.
The fire broke out at 9:07am on 12 Nov at a production auxiliary equipment, said Shin-Etsu in a statement, adding that operations in one part of the plant had stopped.
The production line, however, is continuing to operate as usual, the company said.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Located in in Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture, the Shirakawa plant manufactures silicones, rare earths, and semiconductor silicon.
