Two companies to develop nanomaterials for various applications, including in high-performance tires.
Mumbai, India – Indian carbon black supplier Birla Carbon and US-based Chasm Advanced Materials Inc. have agreed to jointly develop nanomaterials for use in high-performance tires, among other applications.
Chasm of Marietta, Atlanta develops and manufactures printed electronics materials and battery materials based on carbon nanotube and ink/coating technologies.
Under the agreement, the partners will share research and engineering resources to develop and manufacture hybrid nanomaterials based on carbon substrates and carbon nanotubes.
The hybrid nanomaterials will combine Chasm’s nanotube enhanced carbon (NTeC) technology with Birla Carbon’s expertise in commercialisation and manufacturing, the companies announced 18 Nov.
The partnership will help to “rapidly advance [both] companies’ understanding of high-performance, scalable nanomaterials, said Dr. Santrupt Misra, CEO, Birla Carbon.
Birla “offer us faster access to customers and markets,” added David Arthur, Chasm, CEO and co-founder added in the joint statement.
