Akron Rubber Development Laboratory invests in Metravib unit offering advanced capabilities for mechanical property characterisation
Akron, Ohio – Akron Rubber Development Laboratory Inc. (ARDL) has invested in new equipment to enhance its capabilities in the field of viscoelastic and fatigue property testing of specimens and components.
The Metravib DMA+2000 unit offers advanced capabilities for mechanical property characterisation, according to a 30 Oct statement from the US company.
The investment, said ARDL, will support customers’ materials-development work as well as in determining failure modes, including when only a minimal amount of test material is available.
Specific tests available include DMA, TMA, tensile/compression tests, glass transition, heat build-up, creep, crack growth, Goodrich flexometer testing, stress relaxation, exothermic reaction, shrinkage and rheological properties.
R&D measurements available on the unit include frequency sweep, temperature sweep, stress and/or strain amplitude, wave form, and environmental exposure.
The specs include a minimum frequency of 0.00001Hz to 1000Hz, temperature range of -150°C to +500°C, 2000N peak to peak dynamic force and modulus 500 Pa to 3E12 Pa.
