Essen, Germany - Brenntag is acquiring Brazilian distributor Quimisa SA, with headquarters in Brusque, and its logistics subsidiary Quimilog, in a move that will see the company significantly improving its infrastructural capabilities in Latin America.
Quimisa has a strong market position in providing industrial and speciality chemicals to regional and international clients in Southern Brazil, according to a Brenntag statement 10 Oct.
The company’s product portfolio includes industrial chemicals such as caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide as well as a wide range of speciality chemicals such as textile auxiliaries, dyes and polymers.
With facilities in the Brazilian states of Santa Catarina, Parana and Rio Grande do Sul, the company primarily supplies to the textile, household products, food and beverage and paper industries, using a strong logistics and customer service model.
In 2018, the business reported total sales of approximately €60.8m.
“For Brenntag, the acquisition of Quimisa is an attractive investment with a strong infrastructure which will allow us to increase our market position in Brazil,” said German Torres, chief executive officer of Brenntag Latin America.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, subject to contractually agreed closing conditions.
