Michelin raising North America prices for fourth time

Michelin North America Inc. (MNA) is raising prices for the fourth time this year, the tire maker announced 1 Oct.
Greenville, South Carolina — Michelin North America Inc. (MNA) is raising prices for the fourth time this year, the tire maker announced 1 Oct.
Effective 1 Dec, the company is increasing prices up to 4.9% for Michelin- and BFGoodrich-brand truck tires and Michelin Retread Technologies and Oliver-brand retread products in the US and Canada.
The tire maker said additional details will be provided directly to its North American fleet account customers.
MNA increased prices on selected Michelin-and BFGoodrich-brand passenger and light-truck tires in the US and Canada by up to 5% on 1 Sept.
On 1 July, the South Carolina-based tire maker increased prices on Uniroyal-brand commercial tires and "select" Michelin-brand off-highway products by as much as 6%.
That move followed the 1-Jan price hike of up to 5% on passenger and light-truck tire prices in the US and Canada.
The January increase also included Uniroyal-brand consumer tires and Michelin-brand two-wheeler tires, sold in the US and Canada.
Other tire makers have announced price increases of late, as well, including:
Yokohama Tire Corp., which is raising prices in the US by as much as 5% on its consumer tires, including passenger, high performance and light-truck tires, effective 1 Nov.
Pirelli Tire North America LLC raised prices on replacement market passenger and light truck tires in the US on 1 Oct but declined to say by how much.
The increase will vary by line and tire size, and will be communicated directly with Pirelli’s customers. Pirelli also raised prices by an average of 6% on 1 Jan.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. raised prices on its Cooper- and Roadmaster-brand truck tires to compensate for the elevated import duties levied by the US government on truck tires from China.
The increases were effective after the start of the second quarter. Cooper declined to disclose the scale of the increase.
