Houston, Texas – Orion Engineered Carbons SA has launched a major reshuffle within its executive management team, involving the appointment of a new senior vice president (SVP) for the rubber carbon black unit.
As part of the reorganisation, Pedro Riveros has been appointed as SVP global rubber carbon black and general manager for the Americas, Orion announced 30 Sept.
The move follows the departure of Erik Thiry, formerly SVP rubber carbon black, who left the company “to pursue other business interests.”
Riveros joined Orion in June 2019 and previously held the position of SVP and general manager Americas.
In his new role, he will be responsible for the global rubber carbon black product line and all aspects of the Americas region. He will continue to report to CEO Corning Painter.
Furthermore, Orion named Sandra Niewiem as SVP global speciality carbon black and general manager for the EMEA Region.
Niewiem joined Orion in December 2013 and previously held the position of VP global product management and business development speciality carbon black.
Michael Reers has also been appointed as chief administration officer (CAO).
He joined Orion in September 2012 and previously held the position of SVP and group controller.
In his new role, Reers will be responsible for information technology and carbon black oil procurement globally.
“These leaders have demonstrated excellent capabilities and a bias for action,” said Painter, announcing the appointments.
In their new roles, he added, the new team will “further expand their contributions to Orion and our valued customers.”
