Brussels – Falken has been approved to supply high performance tires to Audi’s compact SUV, the Q3, the company announced 19 Sept.
The SUV will be fitted with the 215/65R17 99V derivative of Falken’s Ziex ZE914 A EC AO pattern, which is exclusively available for original equipment.
The tire has low rolling resistance and good handling and braking properties “even on wet roads,” said Falken Tyre Europe, an affiliate of Japanese tire maker Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI).
The tire compound has been improved and its profile optimised to create a tire that offers safety and fuel economy, Falken added.
Separately, two Falken series were also recently selected by Toyota to be fitted as OEM on its latest Corolla models, available from March.
The new vehicles will be fitted with the Ziex ZE914B Ecorun in sizes 225/40R18 92W XL and 225/45R17 91W tires from Falken's Ziex Series, and the Sincera SN832B in size 205/55R16 91V from the Sincera series, the tire maker announced 10 Sept.
The tires are manufactured at the SRI plant in Turkey and fitted at the Toyota plants in Castle Donington in the UK and Sarkaya in Turkey.
